Carinthians are enthusiastic cyclists: Our special cycling routes are a real treat for all cyclists while following the sun and along the riverside.

It really does not matter what kind of cyclist you are, whether you are on a mountain bike, a tandem, a cruiser or just on a plain good old bike – this popular way of moving forward can be used here at the Wörthersee either for bike sports, or for a nice easy ride through the beautiful surrounding countryside. The hilly landscape opens lots of opportunities. Here you can combine a boat-ride with a bike ride, and visit the many sights, after stopping to refresh yourself at the many comfortable resting places along the routes.

A Cycle Hire Shop is nearby where you can hire cycles daily or weekly, you may of course bring your own bike with you and leave it safely with us.

Technical problems with your own bike are no problem for the Zweirad Beindl Company, they will repair them for you, and they also have a large selection of Cycling Goods.

If you are a cycling enthusiast but cannot bring your own bike with you, then you will be given a bike that conforms to your size and expectations.

Enjoy a ride around the lake, or a cycle trip to the weekly market in Klagenfurt, and we will of course tell you where the best cycling tours can be found.

We have a very special offer for those who are really fit and train regularly on a bike:
Fritz a cycling fanatic, who is in excellent condition will take you alone, or in groups, for a small charge on a bike tour through some of the most scenic countryside, and to some of the best places of cultural interest that Carinthia has to offer. The routes that he takes are mostly off of the official bike routes – and they will certainly put your level of fitness to the test – and at the same time show you Carinthia from a completely different angle, and quite often reveal its hidden side.

Challenging and easy bike tours

Old City-Round trip to Klagenfurt (14 km)

From our apartments it is an easy ride, for about 20 minutes until you reach the old city of Klagenfurt, and while you are there why not pay a visit to the “Augustin”, which is one of the original breweries for a snack and a drink, before starting your journey back home feeling completely refreshed.

Round trip around the Wörthersee (approx. 42 km)

Cycle from Krumpendorf to the east end of the lake, (here you could visit Minimundus, and see the world in miniature on the Wörthersee) and afterwards cycle on to Reifnitz and Maria Wörth, where you can visit the pilgrimage church. From here you now take the road to Velden, where the famous Wörthersee Castle stands. Then go via Pörtschach back to Krumpendorf. Should you run out of strength during the tour, you may of course take a boat back from one of the villages around the lake.

5- Lake Round Tour (approx. 35km)

Cycle from Krumpendorf past Pörtschach to Velden, always following the south side of the Lake to Cap Wörth, and then further on through Auen to Dellach. In Maria Wörth it is worth taking a break and having a look at the pilgrimage church. Then cycle on to Reifnitz and Sekirn (this is where the famous Viennese Boys Choir spend their summer holidays) to Maiernigg (this is the house of Gustav Mahler) and then cycle on to Goritschitzen. Take the forest path past the Rauschelesee, and at the Bassgeigensee you will reach Keutschach. Following the Hafnersee you will reach the Techlweg (Natural Park) and then cycle back to Velden. From here the route leads back via Pörtschach to Krumpendorf.

Panorama Round Trip (27 km/2.45 h)

The Panorama Round Trip goes from Krumpendorf via Pörtschach to Velden and then further on over the Köstenberger Country Road to Kranzlhofen (Chorturm Church) until you reach Köstenberg. Then go towards the Saissersee via Dröschnitz through fields and meadows to Trabenig and then further on to St. Martin am Techelsberg. Once passing through a part of the village known as Sekull, “cycle back” again to Pörtschach. After a delicious coffee stop at the Wienerroither in Pörtschach it is time to cycle back home.
